Lancaster County, Pa

Our trip to Lancaster County, Pa was relaxing, and fun.  Lancaster is located in eastern Pennsylvania and it is absolutely beautiful country side.  Big beautiful farms, many of them Amish owned.  I won't say it's a place hopping with excitement because it is quiet and laid back, lots of small shops, many with Amish made goods.

But it's fun because you can take Amish buggy rides through Amish country and through some of the Amish farms and get a peak at their way of life.

But I'm a little concerned about founding fathers of this place.  We stayed in a little town called Bird in Hand.  But check out these names for towns all in a row here:

Virginville
Blue Ball
Bird in Hand
Intercourse
Paradise

If you visit, I'd suggest that you stay right in the heart of the Amish area, because much of Lancaster County, Pa looks a lot like many other cities around the country with malls, stores and hotel after hotel.

We stayed at the Amish View Inn and Suites and it was very nice and right in the heart of the Amish farms.  The buggy rides were within walking distance as was the restaurant with the family style meals.  The breakfast that comes with the lodging is more than bagels and fruit.  They actually put out a pretty good spread and have people on hand to prepare your eggs anyway you want them.

Just outside the large windows in the breakfast room is pure Amish Farmland pretty much as far as you can see.  But if the corn is high you won't see too far.  Pam and I  found this hotel to be neat, clean, and the rooms are very spacious.  We were really happy with our stay there and would stay again if we ever go back.

Just us, enjoying Amish Country.

Keep in mind, Lancaster, Pa is only about 2 hours from Atlantic City and Wildwood, New Jersey.
